United Nations Clan #1 vs United Nations Clan #2

- History:

Of course we have all played each other in a war before on the computer but never in real life. This was a first for all of us. United Nations Clan has met each other in real life many times. The only action I recall was in 2005 when we played Manhunt, otherwise known as 40-40 home. Here we can see the full history of United Nations Clan meetings:

Finally now we come to our most recent meeting from 4th August 2007 to 9th August 2007 in Belgium:

- 1st Round:

We had the marshal explain the rules and it was his decision that we start with Team Deathmatch as the gametype. We locked and loaded with 100 paintballs each and moved out to check out the terrain. Myself, Kristof “Raven” Verlinde and Danick “Shade” De Meulenaere discussed what we should do but were unsure. We decided to start with using our initiative. We were up against experienced players in this map and were ready to watch closely what they would do.

We started by sitting back slightly and took the left flank, our enemy had two players do the same. They took position behind some trees, me and Kristof “Raven” Verlinde took shelter behind some barrels and took potshots at them to scare them off. This worked for a while but we knew that if there were more of them we were sitting ducks.

Dries “Shade’s Brother” De Meulenaere, Tony “Shade’s Cousin” De Meulenaere and Annia “Shade’s Sister” De Meulenaere were all taken down quickly. They took the right flank and were ambushed by Wouter “Nobody” Baert and Bram “Bramjam” Desoete, Danick “Shade” De Meulenaere was to our right and moved in to support them, taking down Bram “Bramjam” Desoete as he tried to retreat into cover.

Danick “Shade” De Meulenaere was then taken out by Wouter “Nobody” Baert after he tried to sneak out of the maze and help us on the left flank.

Myself and Kristof “Raven” Verlinde decided it best to be in the maze, we moved in and separated to avoid any ambush. I am not sure how many of the enemy remained but I know after the maze we did very little. I was shot in the back by Wouter “Nobody” Baert and Kristof “Raven” Verlinde went down very soon after taking down Floris “Lazydog” Devriendt through the wooden planks in the maze.

- 2nd Round:

Again Team Deathmatch we reloaded our hoppers and went back into the battlefield. I don’t know a lot of this match so I am relying on the sources I have gathered information from.

We moved with three men on the left and three on the right. I was one of those people on the right. I took position behind the trees that they gave us problems with in the previous round. Danick “Shade” De Meulenaere was close by and getting shot at. I tried to move round to support him and as I did so took a paint straight in the eye from Yannick “Gandalf” Van Haver

Tony “Shade’s Cousin” De Meulenaere went into the maze and encountered Bram “Bramjam” Desoete, they both shot and missed completely from around 2 metres from each other. Bram “Bramjam” Desoete surrendered leaving us in an equal state.

Our team then moved up taking a lot of the terrain and making it harder on the other team, this didn’t stop Floris “Lazydog” Devriendt who took down Kristof “Raven” Verlinde at the surf board. Floris “Lazydog” Devriendt was then taken down by Tony “Shade’s Cousin” De Meulenaere who was on fire this round.

We soon took down the rest and finished this game quickly.

- 3rd Round:

It was now capture the flag, the good old fashioned [UNC] gametype. The flag was in the center of the map and should be taken to the enemy’s base to win.

We decided to take the right flank and move into the tires this time, as the first round brought us to a position where we couldn’t move or do anything if we lost too many players. Tony “Shade’s Cousin” De Meulenaere, Dries “Shade’s Brother” De Meulenaere and Annia “Shade’s Sister” De Meulenaere all moved down the right flank and secured a good position for us to move up on the right.

We encountered Floris “Lazydog” Devriendt and Yannick “Gandalf” Van Haver and put heavy fire on them. They took cover whilst we took every opportunity to take them down. I could see Floris “Lazydog” Devriendt through the tyres and shot through hoping it would hit. I heard a shout from him and knew I had got him, I had taken him by surprise. Kristof “Raven” Verlinde sat back in the tall grass covering our six. Danick “Shade” De Meulenaere then spotted Yannick “Gandalf” Van Haver who was taking cover between the maze and the tyres. He took a few shots and it wasn’t long till Yannick “Gandalf” Van Haver was down.

Myself and Danick “Shade” De Meulenaere were then held up by another enemy, I decided to move back to Kristof “Raven” Verlinde where I was unaware that enemy were moving close to, I was shot at from all sides and eventually after trying to get to cover was shot in the back and on my gun.

Kristof “Raven” Verlinde the sneaky guy he is lying still in the tall grass where he took down Bram “Bramjam” Desoete. Wouter “Nobody” Baert was the only brave soldier to go into the maze to get the flag, he moved forward through the center to get to our base but soon encountered Kristof “Raven” Verlinde who made several combat rolls through the grass and shot back. Kristof “Raven” Verlinde then realised that Wouter “Nobody” Baert was shooting CO² and had no ammo, so the game went our way. Wouter “Nobody” Baert surrendered.

- 4th Round:

The gametype was now Medic. Each team had a medic who had to wear a florescent jacket but had the ability to touch people and bring them back to life. The medics for team #1 was me Samuel “Snake” Shaw and for team #2 was David “Luckzor” Pardo.

We decided to camp this round, I would sit back in the trench and wait to be called, the action got very tense and the adrenaline was pumping. Danick “Shade” De Meulenaere and his brother Dries “Shade’s Brother” De Meulenaere stayed central whilst Kristof “Raven” Verlinde took position near me to the far left outside of the tyres. We were taken down in some areas but I made sure that the players around me were alive. Some of our team mates were too far away and I had no chance of getting to them, I managed to revive Dries “Shade’s Brother” De Meulenaere but then he moved too far away.

I could see now why this was risky, paintball bullets were coming from straight ahead onto my position as I was very easy to see with my florescent jacket on.

Myself and Danick “Shade” De Meulenaere moved closer to Kristof “Raven” Verlinde on the left hand side where there was a great camping spot with wooden planks etc.

I took position behind a tyre with a wooden plank in front of it, to check if enemy were trying to flank us. Wouter “Nobody” Baert took down Dries “Shade’s Brother” De Meulenaere and Tony “Shade’s Cousin” De Meulenaere but he was taken down himself. Wouter “Nobody” Baert came very close to me after he was killed and of course me not knowing he was dead took a jump and shot out at him then landing behind cover. Apparently after the game I found out I hit him, which I found amazing hehe.

We then concentrated on the left hand side allowing the enemy to come too us. b]Kristof “Raven” Verlinde was hit by this time and was a little too far to reach but I went for him. Him and Danick “Shade” De Meulenaere then moved round whilst I covered our side for anymore enemy flankers.

By this time we had heard that the medic was down, I believe it was Annia “Shade’s Sister” De Meulenaere who took him down.

Danick “Shade” De Meulenaere got hit and in I went again but this time stealth style on my front through the tall grass. We all shot out and took an enemy down before the end of time was called. Another win for us!

- 5th Round:

Here the other side of the map we had the same plan, we used an area of the map that we had not used as of yet. To start with it went very bad. We took a bad route before the enemy spotted us and moved back and across to get into a better position. We were spread out in sight of each other to make it easier for me to get to everyone to heal.

Tony “Shade’s Cousin” De Meulenaere was hit very early on because he went too far forward. I waited before helping him. Meanwhile I was with Kristof “Raven” Verlinde who was blind due to steamed up goggles. I asked him to move up with Danick “Shade” De Meulenaere and to check the left. He got hit badly, it didn’t take me long to risk getting shot to get to him and heal him, he then shot madly at the enemy to allow me to heal Dries “Shade’s Brother” De Meulenaere and soon after Tony “Shade’s Cousin” De Meulenaere.

Me and Tony “Shade’s Cousin” De Meulenaere then spotted an enemy near the entrance to the tyres on our side. We shot at him forcing him to fall back. We then moved quickly forward together into the tyres where Yannick “Gandalf” Van Haver had been hit and was screaming “Medic in the Tyres” in dutch. We kept him quiet and maintained our position in the tyres to make sure no one could sneak past, Danick “Shade” De Meulenaere used Bram “Bramjam” Desoete as a shield to push back Wouter “Nobody” Baert whilst in the tyres we had enemy incoming from the maze. Kristof “Raven” Verlinde shot at Floris “Lazydog” Devriendt who was immortal due to David “Luckzor” Pardo holding onto him, they moved back. By this time I moved out of the tyres back to the entrance of the Maze.

By this time we had them pinned into the Maze and the game was over.

- 6th Round:

Back to Team Deathmatch and it was our final round of the evening. It was time to finish up the last of our paintballs and go home or for some go out for some beers and a kebab MmmMm.

Myself and Kristof “Raven” Verlinde moved towards the tyres, taking out a couple of their players. They moved back to their base to heal whilst we moved further forward. The paintballs were flying as this was our last round. We took full control of the tyres, its was quite dark. All of our team took the other team down, we moved back in case they flanked us when they returned to life. Floris “Lazydog” Devriendt sneaked into the maze whilst we moved back up into the tyres again, we shot from the tyres but didn’t hit anyone. Floris “Lazydog” Devriendt came up close behind us and took me and Kristof “Raven” Verlinde out from close range, the only paintball to have hurt the whole evening for me and it smarted.

As I walked back to the base to resurrect I noticed Annia “Shade’s Sister” De Meulenaere had been hit hard and was on the floor, she had been hit in the kidneys. By this time we thought it was time to finish. We called the marshal over, shot all our paintballs onto trees etc and game over.

- Conclusion:

Overall I think we all had a great time, I for one enjoyed running in the open and jumping into long grass and bushes. I wrote this report to remind us of this day as it is a memorable day for [UNC]. To see and meet everyone was brilliant, the fact we can do such things after meeting online is just fantastic.

I hope this will help our friendship grow to the highest level and next time we do this I hope it will be on home soil with more [UNC] members.
